Bislimi Runs for Mayor of Gjilan - Challenges Party Favorite Candidates Gjilan, October 2007--In an effort to help his hometown, Tony Bislimi, is running for Mayor of Gjilan as an independent candidate. He believes that he could do a better job for the future of all people of Gjilan. Tony, just like the vast majority of the people of Gjilan, is not satisfied with the current socio-economic conditions Gjilan currently faces. He is running independently because he believes that with the new voting system of open-lists, voters have the opportunity to vote for their mayor based on the personality and background of each individual candidate without linking them necessarily to their parties. Nevertheless, he states that his running simply shows his enormous desire and willingness to serve his people. I am here to serve my people, he says, and I will continue to do so whether or not I get elected.
